At IAS, International Authentication Service we pride ourselves with an impressive exemplar database of nearly 500,000 files documented, which are used by autograph authenticators to accurately assess the thousands of autographs submitted daily. Our extremely extended exemplar file library is the most important tool IAS utilizes when authenticating any signature submitted to us.
As collectors ourselves we know exactly that it’s not only exciting to own and display your collectibles but they are also investments that increase in value over time. But value is a direct result of authenticity. Some collectors prefer to own only those items they have seen signed themselves. Most serious collectors and customers buy their autographed items from reputable dealers with excellent long standing reputations for quality and integrity.
We urge you to consider several important criteria when purchasing an autographed item such as a reliable source, a certificate of authenticity, COA or any similar papers, evidence etc. Each seller of an autographed item which is stored in our database has filed documentation, backed by a signed affidavit, as to where and when it was obtained.
Experienced autograph collectors know that it’s very difficult to verify a celebrity signature. Sometimes autographs are obtained “On The Run”, when famous artists are moving while signing. In signing sessions, when an artist is signing a number of objects, there is a natural variance in the slant, pitch, spacing and articulation of letters in their signature. But exemplars, or true and accurate signature examples, still remain a reliable standard in the industry.
Our experts examines each and every signature against a library of exemplars, with its knowledge of signing circumstances and artist idiosyncracies to further evaluate the integrity of the autograph. Here at IAS you can fully rely on our expertise while getting the best service possible.
Appraisal
- You provide us a link to the item(s) you are interested in buying or bidding on. We will use our extensive expertise in the field of online autograph sales and our in-person autograph database to compare authentic signatures to the items and will issue you an email opinion of either “Likely Authentic and would “Recommend A Purchase” or “Would Not Recommend”. No Certificate Of Authenticity will be issued! If authentic and you would like to purchase a certificate of authenticity afterwards, we are happy to provide you a COA after examination.
- Simply just mail us a scan of your item for a physical examination. In some cases we can only allow high resolution scans of your item to determine authenticity to avoid having your send your items to us for safety reasons. If you’ve done option #1, we will discount that amount off this option. We will use our expertise, database, and all outside resources available to us to ensure an accurate assessment. If found authentic, we will issue a Certificate Of Authenticity certifying your item(s) as authentic as well as apply a unique #d tamper proof hologram. We will email you upon receipt of payment so that you can send us photos of your item(s) and follow up information.
- Having your items appraised and authenticated is a wise step in maintaining a prized collection and ensuring a maximum value for resale.Weather you intend to hand your autographs down to loved one or eventually plan to sell your items yourself, buyers will want to know who certified your items and feel secure in knowing the are certified authentic. Remember that insurance companies are very strict and may not honor your (or your loved ones) claims without proper documentation of value on your autographs. It is a smart financial investment to have your autographs authenticated and appraised. If you have multiple items you wish to have authenticated and or appraised or have any questions at all, please email us directly and we will discuss a bulk discount.
